Short Game Faults & Fixes
Five full-swing tactical pages cover slice, chunk, stuck miss, early extension, and flying elbow. Short Game faults are tactical corrections inside Final Boss Method — Short Game — this page routes wedge and greenside symptoms to the right lesson and drill.
Same rule as full swing: pick one to recalibrate. Do not stack bounce skim + landing spot + window call in one 50-rep block.
Now (on course): Recovery & Reset — one external rule on the next shot (landing spot or hollow thump). After the round: open the symptom card below and run the linked drill at 10% speed.
Symptom Routing
Full-swing tactical pages do not cover wedge and greenside faults. Every rep routes through lie read → window → landing spot before setup — same as On-Course Tactics.
Delivery rules fromShort Game Blueprint · Shot Selection & Landing Zones
Leading-edge dig; bounce hidden
- Shaft lean + rigid hinge-and-hold — bounce never engages
- Fix: Geometry of Bounce — tee skim constraint; Tight-Lie Chip on fairway lies
- Drill: Trail-Hand Chip Protocol
Scoop or steep V-path; hub lift
- Hub lifts; club hits equator of ball
- Fix: Trajectory Control — lob/checker programming
- Constraint: tee under leading edge — skim, not dig
Passive release blocked
- Hinge-and-hold tension kills touch
- Fix: Hinge-and-Hold Myth — passive release
- Calibrate: Carry Calibration when strike is clean but distance wanders
Pre-shot programming skipped
- Wrong club or firm-green misread on bump-and-run
- Fix: Shot Library + Bump-and-Run landing-zone math
- On course: external focus on landing spot — Pre-Shot Short Game
Turf-first logic or deceleration
- Splash speed not committed; entry line wrong
- Fix: Bunker Shots — sand displacement first
- Landing-zone thinking still applies: where ball exits sand onto green
On course after a mishit: one external rule only — Recovery & Reset. Save constraint work for the range.

Short Game Fault Fix
Primary drill
Delivery rule
The constraint or landing-spot metric for that fault—not outcome score.
Work through the three steps below in order—don't skip ahead.
If you get stuck
Tee under leading edge skim constraint · Carry Calibration when strike is clean but distance wanders
1. Learn It
~10% of your max · no ball
Setup + constraint dry run (tee skim or landing-spot call behind the ball)
Delivery rule stated in one sentence before rep 1
2. Prove It
~30–70% of your max · ball on
Same constraint must clear (skim quality or landing-spot accuracy). Ball flight does not matter.
8 Of 10 constraint clears—not pin proximity obsession
3. Play It
Up to 100% of your max · game speed
Random lie + window + landing spot every rep; full Pre-Shot Loop when ready.
External focus on landing spot or hollow thump — not hinge maintenance
Graduate via Transfer Protocol exit criteria before loading full game speed
