Putting Faults & Fixes
Five full-swing tactical pages cover slice, chunk, stuck miss, early extension, and flying elbow. Putting faults are tactical corrections inside Final Boss Method — Putting — this page routes start-line, speed, and read symptoms to the right lesson and drill.
Same rule as full swing: pick one to recalibrate. Do not stack gate + Level + read algorithm in one 50-rep block.
Now (on course): Recovery & Reset — one external rule on the next putt (intermediate mark or Level call). After the round: open the symptom card below and run the linked drill at 10% speed.
Symptom Routing
Start-line misses are face problems first. Speed misses are Level programming problems. Run gate and Level work before break reads.
Delivery rules fromPutting Blueprint · Face Angle vs. Path
Face angle at impact
- ~90% of start-line error is face delivery — not path steering
- Fix: Face Angle vs. Path
- Drill: Start-Line Gate Protocol
Full-swing bleed in planar stroke
- Body micro-motions replace pendulum delivery
- Fix: Planar Pendulum — wall stillness
- Drill: Forehead Post (Constraint 1 only)
Speed not programmed
- Hole fixation; Level chosen at impact instead of address
- Fix: Lag Putting & Leave Zones + Speed Programming
- Target: 12–18 inches past the hole on lag putts
Level too low
- Die-it instinct; deceleration through the roll
- Fix: Speed Programming — finish past the hole
- Pace behind the ball before Level lock
Read after eyes
- Parallax error; aim vector not committed before stroke
- Fix: Green Reading Algorithms
- High-side miss bias on breaking putts
Doubt / multiple looks
- Multiple re-aims on a 2-footer are doubt, not precision
- Fix: Short Putts & Make Zone
- Compressed loop: Pre-Shot Compressed Variants
On course: Pre-Shot Putting + Lag leave zone on long putts.

Gate pass or leave-zone finish—not make-rate on lag putts.
Work through the three steps below in order—don't skip ahead.
If you get stuck
Forehead Post (Head still) · Speed Programming Levels for distance faults
1. Learn It
~10% of your max · no ball
Gate setup or Level call dry run — read loop before stroke programming
Level locked before takeaway on lag putts
2. Prove It
~30–70% of your max · ball on
Gate pass or leave-zone finish at random distances. Ball flight does not matter.
8 Of 10 gate passes or leave-zone finishes
3. Play It
Up to 100% of your max · game speed
Random distance + break call every rep; full Pre-Shot Loop when ready.
Roll over intermediate mark — not wrist suppression or hole-staring
After a miss, one external rule only — Recovery & Reset
